Possible Causes

Clogged cross-over pipe between bowls, Incorrectly installed baffle tee, Blocked branch drain downstream of disposal, Air gap or venting issue

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: Turn OFF power at the breaker before disconnecting any plumbing.

  • Step 1 – Check cross-over pipe: Remove the horizontal pipe between the two sink bowls and clear any blockage. Rinse thoroughly.
  • Step 2 – Inspect baffle tee: Ensure the baffle tee is oriented correctly so that discharge from the disposal flows down, not across into the other bowl.
  • Step 3 – Clean P-trap and branch: Remove and clean the P-trap and run a small drain snake into the wall pipe to clear downstream obstructions.
  • Step 4 – Reassemble and test: Reinstall all pipes, run water, and operate the disposal while watching for backup.
