Possible Causes
Failed electronic control board (on advanced Electrolux models), Stuck internal relay, Faulty safety interlock (batch-feed lid sensor), Loose internal wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn OFF power at the breaker before removing any covers.
- Step 1 – Verify lid or stopper (batch-feed models): Ensure the batch-feed stopper or magnetic lid is fully seated and oriented correctly to engage the safety interlock.
- Step 2 – Inspect internal wiring: Remove the bottom cover and check for loose spade connectors or wire nuts between the power input and motor.
- Step 3 – Check control module: On models with a separate control module, look for burn marks or swollen components. Replace the control module if available as a service part.
- Step 4 – Test: Restore power and test. If the click persists without motor operation and wiring is intact, the internal relay or motor is likely defective.
- In most cases, replacement of the entire disposal is more practical than control or motor repair.
