Batch Feed Actuator / Magnetic Switch Not Engaging
Batch-feed Everbilt garbage disposal will not start when stopper is inserted
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Incorrect stopper orientation, Debris preventing stopper from seating, Worn batch-feed lid magnet, Failed internal magnetic switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the unit is plugged into a GFCI outlet and the breaker is ON.
- Check stopper position: For Everbilt batch-feed models, the stopper must be inserted and turned to the ON position. Align the tabs as shown in the user manual.
- Clean stopper and opening: Remove the stopper and clean both the stopper and the sink opening to remove food debris that may prevent full engagement.
- Inspect stopper magnet: If the stopper has a magnet, ensure it is not cracked or missing. Replace the stopper if damaged.
- Test outlet: Plug in another device to confirm the outlet has power.
- If still not starting: The internal batch-feed switch or control module may have failed. Replacement of the Everbilt disposal is typically required.
