Possible Causes

Disposal and other appliances on same circuit, Undersized breaker or wiring, Motor starting under heavy load, Failing motor drawing excessive current

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Do not repeatedly reset a tripping breaker without finding the cause.

  • Reduce load: Avoid running other high-draw appliances (microwave, toaster, dishwasher) on the same circuit while using the Everbilt disposal.
  • Clear chamber: With power OFF, ensure the grinding chamber is free of jams and can rotate easily using the bottom hex socket.
  • Check breaker size: Confirm the disposal is on a 15–20A circuit with appropriate wire gauge. If not, consult an electrician.
  • If breaker still trips on light load: The motor may be failing and drawing excessive current. Replace the Everbilt disposal.
