Possible Causes

Tripped internal overload reset button, Tripped GFCI outlet, Faulty wall switch, Loose or burned wiring in junction box or power cord

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the wall switch. Do not work on live wiring.

  • Check outlet and GFCI: If your Everbilt disposal plugs into an outlet, plug in a lamp or tester to confirm power. If dead, locate the GFCI outlet on that circuit and press RESET. Then test the disposal again.
  • Press the reset button: On the bottom of the Everbilt disposal, press the red reset button firmly. If it clicks, the overload was tripped. Restore power and test.
  • Inspect the wall switch: Turn off the breaker. Remove the switch cover and verify wires are tight and not burned. Replace the switch if it feels loose or fails continuity testing with a multimeter.
  • Check wiring compartment: For hardwired Everbilt models, remove the small wiring cover on the bottom/side of the unit (breaker OFF). Confirm wire nuts are tight and no insulation is burned. Re-secure and restore power.
  • If still no response: The internal motor windings or control (if equipped with an electronic start module) may be failed. Replacement of the disposal is recommended.
