Possible Causes
Failed internal shaft seal, Corroded grinding chamber, Cracked disposal housing, Rusted motor housing on Everbilt unit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Immediately unplug the disposal or turn OFF the breaker. Do not operate a leaking unit; water and electricity are a shock hazard.
- Confirm leak origin: Dry the outside of the disposal, then run water in the sink without turning the unit on. If water drips from the bottom or through the motor housing, the internal seals are compromised.
- No internal repair: Everbilt garbage disposals are factory-sealed; internal shaft seals and chambers are not serviceable.
- Replace the unit: Remove the existing Everbilt disposal by disconnecting the power, drain connections, and mounting ring. Install a new Everbilt disposal following the installation manual, ensuring all gaskets and seals are correctly positioned.
- Check for collateral damage: Inspect the cabinet floor and nearby wiring for water damage and dry thoroughly.
