Possible Causes
Severe jam in grinding chamber, Motor rotor seized, Shorted windings in Everbilt motor, Incorrect voltage supply
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the breaker. Do not keep resetting a breaker that trips instantly.
- Clear jam: With power OFF, use the bottom hex socket to rotate the shaft. Remove any obstructions from the chamber with tongs.
- Check rotation: If the shaft will not turn at all, the motor is likely seized.
- Restore power and test once: Turn the breaker ON, run water, and briefly turn the switch ON. If the breaker trips immediately again, stop.
- Replace unit: A motor that trips the breaker instantly after clearing jams is usually shorted. Replace the Everbilt disposal.
