Possible Causes
Clogged Everbilt discharge elbow, Blocked P-trap under sink, Grease buildup in drain line, Improperly installed baffle or stopper restricting flow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF and unplug the disposal. Do not put hands into the grinding chamber.
- Check for simple blockage: Remove the sink baffle and visually inspect the grinding chamber. Use tongs to remove any large debris.
- Flush with water: Run cold water at full flow with the disposal ON for 30–60 seconds to clear minor obstructions.
- Clean discharge elbow and P-trap:
- Place a bucket under the P-trap and Everbilt discharge elbow.
- Loosen the slip nuts and remove the trap and elbow.
- Clear any food sludge or grease with a bottle brush.
- Reassemble, ensuring gaskets are seated correctly.
- Check further down the line: If the trap is clear, the clog may be in the wall drain. Use a drain snake to clear the line (never use caustic drain cleaners in a disposal).
- Retest: Run water and the disposal to confirm proper drainage.
