Possible Causes
Defective wall switch contacts, Moisture in switch box, Damaged or shorted cable to Everbilt disposal, Miswired multi-switch circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the breaker controlling the disposal circuit. Verify power is off at the switch.
- Inspect the wall switch: Remove the switch cover and check for moisture, corrosion, or loose wires. Replace the switch if it is warm, noisy, or visibly damaged.
- Check wiring connections: Ensure all wire nuts are tight and no bare copper is exposed that could short.
- Look for water intrusion: If the switch box is near a sink or window, check for signs of water leaks and correct the source.
- Test with a new switch: Install a new, properly rated single-pole switch and test operation.
- If problem persists: The cable from the switch to the Everbilt disposal may be damaged inside the wall. Contact a licensed electrician.
