Everbilt
Imbalanced Impeller Plate / Loose Mounting
Garbage disposal vibrates excessively and shakes the sink or countertop
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Loose Everbilt mounting ring, One or more impeller lugs stuck, Foreign object lodged on one side of plate, Warped or damaged impeller plate
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF and unplug the disposal before inspecting.
- Check mounting assembly: Grasp the disposal body and try to move it. If it wobbles at the sink connection, tighten the three mounting screws on the Everbilt mounting ring evenly.
- Inspect impellers: Remove the splash guard and look inside. Ensure both impeller lugs swing freely. Use a screwdriver to gently move them if stuck (power OFF).
- Remove debris: Use tongs to remove any debris stuck on one side of the grinding plate or shredder ring.
- Test with water: Restore power, run cold water, and briefly turn the unit ON. Mild vibration is normal; strong shaking indicates internal imbalance.
- If severe vibration continues: The impeller plate may be bent. Replace the Everbilt disposal to prevent damage to the sink and plumbing.
