Possible Causes
Trapped food residue under splash guard, Grease buildup on chamber walls, Sludge in discharge elbow and P-trap, Rarely used disposal allowing decay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the disposal at the switch before cleaning.
- Clean splash guard: Remove the rubber baffle and scrub both sides with hot, soapy water and a brush. Food often sticks to the underside.
- Scrub chamber: With a long-handled brush, scrub the inside of the Everbilt grinding chamber using dish soap. Do not insert your hand.
- Deodorize: Pour 1/2 cup baking soda into the disposal, followed by 1 cup white vinegar. Let sit 10–15 minutes, then flush with hot water.
- Freshen: Grind a few ice cubes and small citrus peels (lemon/orange) with cold water to help clean and deodorize.
- Maintain: Run the disposal with water for 20–30 seconds after each use to clear residue.
