Possible Causes
Tripped Evergrind reset (overload) button, Open Evergrind power cord, Failed Evergrind wall switch, Open junction box wiring to Evergrind disposer
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the circuit breaker feeding the Evergrind disposal before touching wiring. Verify power is off with a non-contact voltage tester.
- Check reset button: Look at the bottom of the Evergrind disposer for the red overload reset button. Press it firmly until it clicks. Restore power and test the wall switch.
- Verify outlet power (for corded models): Unplug the Evergrind unit and plug in a lamp or tester to confirm the outlet is live. If dead, check the kitchen GFCI outlet and reset it, then check the breaker.
- Inspect wall switch: With power OFF, remove the switch cover and check for loose wires on the Evergrind disposal switch. Tighten terminal screws. Restore power and test.
- Check junction box (hardwired models): With breaker OFF, open the under-sink junction box where the Evergrind leads connect. Inspect wire nuts for loose or burned connections. Re-strip and reconnect wires with new wire nuts if needed.
- If still dead: The internal power leads or control wiring inside the Evergrind motor housing may be open. At this point, replacement of the disposer is usually more economical than internal repair.
