Disposal hums loudly when switch is turned on but the grinding plate does not spin

Possible Causes
Foreign object jammed in Evergrind grinding chamber, Seized Evergrind turntable (grind plate), Bent Evergrind impellers, Overheated Evergrind motor rotor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the wall switch and the circuit breaker. Never put your hand into the Evergrind disposal while it is connected to power.
- Use the supplied jam-buster wrench: Insert the Evergrind hex (Allen) wrench into the hex socket at the bottom center of the disposer. Rock it back and forth firmly to free the jammed turntable.
- Clear the chamber from above: With power still OFF, use tongs or pliers to remove any foreign objects (bones, utensils, glass) from the Evergrind grinding chamber.
- Reset overload: Press the red reset button on the bottom of the Evergrind unit until it clicks.
- Test operation: Restore power, run cold water, and briefly turn on the switch. If the unit spins freely and no longer hums, the jam is cleared.
- If the wrench will not turn or unit still only hums: The motor rotor or bearings may be seized. Replacement of the Evergrind disposer is recommended.
