Possible Causes
Dull Evergrind shredder ring causing overload, Worn Evergrind impellers, Overloading with fibrous food waste, Partially seized Evergrind motor bearings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power at the wall switch before inspecting the unit.
- Reduce load: Avoid feeding large quantities of food at once. Run cold water and feed small amounts gradually into the Evergrind disposal.
- Inspect for obstructions: With power OFF, use a flashlight and tongs to check for stuck objects around the Evergrind shredder ring and impellers. Remove any debris.
- Free the turntable: Use the Evergrind hex wrench on the bottom shaft to rotate the plate fully 360° in both directions. It should move smoothly without binding.
- Reset and test: Press the red reset button, restore power, and test with a small amount of soft food waste.
- If overload persists with light loads: The motor windings or bearings are likely failing. Replacement of the Evergrind disposer is typically required rather than repair.
