Possible Causes
Moisture intrusion into Evergrind motor housing, Shorted Evergrind stator windings, Damaged Evergrind power cord insulation, Pinched wiring in Evergrind junction box
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the breaker and verify power is off. Do not repeatedly reset a breaker that trips instantly.
- Inspect under-sink area: Check for leaks from sink flange or plumbing dripping onto the Evergrind housing or junction box. Repair any leaks before proceeding.
- Check power cord (corded models): Look for cuts, crushed sections, or melted insulation on the Evergrind cord. If damaged, replace the cord kit.
- Inspect junction box: With power OFF, open the junction box and look for bare wires touching the metal box or each other. Re-strip and reconnect with proper wire nuts and electrical tape.
- Dry the unit: If the Evergrind housing is wet, allow it to dry completely for 24 hours before retesting. Do not use heat guns directly on the housing.
- If breaker still trips instantly: The Evergrind motor windings are likely shorted. Replace the disposer; internal motor repair is not cost-effective.
