Newly installed Evergrind disposal leaks from the side where the dishwasher hose connects
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Loose dishwasher hose clamp on Evergrind inlet, Cracked Evergrind dishwasher inlet nipple, Dishwasher knockout plug not fully removed from Evergrind housing, Damaged dishwasher drain hose
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power to the Evergrind unit and do not run the dishwasher until the leak is fixed.
- Verify knockout removal: If the Evergrind disposal is newly installed, confirm the internal dishwasher knockout plug was fully removed from the inlet using a screwdriver and hammer, then retrieved from the grinding chamber.
- Inspect hose and clamp: Loosen the clamp, slide the dishwasher hose fully onto the Evergrind inlet nipple, and retighten the clamp securely. Replace with a new stainless clamp if corroded.
- Check for cracks: Examine the Evergrind inlet nipple for hairline cracks. If cracked, the disposer housing must be replaced.
- Test for leaks: Run the dishwasher drain cycle while observing the connection. Tighten as needed.
