Possible Causes
Damaged Franke air switch hose, Faulty air switch button, Defective low-voltage start circuit on control board, Loose start-signal connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power at the breaker before inspecting wiring.
- Check the air switch hose: Inspect the thin plastic or rubber tube running from the countertop air button to the Franke control box. Look for kinks, cracks, or disconnections. Re-seat or replace the hose if damaged.
- Test the air button: Press the air switch button and listen for a faint click at the control box. If there is no click, the air switch or internal microswitch may be faulty.
- Inspect low-voltage connectors: Open the control box and verify that the small low-voltage connectors from the air switch to the PCB are firmly attached.
- Bypass test (advanced): With power OFF, identify the two low-voltage start terminals on the board. Briefly short them with an insulated jumper while power is restored to see if the disposal starts (only if you are qualified). If it runs, the air switch assembly is defective.
- Replace faulty component: Replace the Franke air switch kit (button + hose) or the Franke control PCB depending on test results.
