Possible Causes

Failed Hall-effect sensor on motor, Damaged tachometer wiring harness, Faulty speed-control circuit on PCB, Loose sensor connector at motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF power at the breaker before accessing the motor or control box.

  • Inspect sensor wiring: Locate the small multi-wire harness running from the Franke motor to the control PCB. Ensure the connectors are fully seated and not corroded or pinched.
  • Check for physical damage: Look for chafed wires or insulation damage near the motor housing where the harness exits.
  • Reset control: Disconnect power for 5 minutes to allow the control to reset. Restore power and test again. If E7 returns immediately, the sensor or board is likely faulty.
  • Replace sensor or motor: On many Franke models, the tachometer sensor is integrated into the motor assembly. If the sensor is not separately replaceable, the entire Franke disposer motor unit must be replaced.
  • Replace control PCB if needed: If a known-good motor still triggers E7, replace the Franke control PCB.
