Possible Causes
Stuck wall switch contacts, Faulty Franke air switch sticking in ON position, Welded relay on electronic control board, Miswired switch circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If the unit will not turn off, immediately switch off the breaker. Do not leave the disposer running unattended.
- Test wall switch: Replace the wall switch if it feels loose, sticks, or fails continuity tests.
- Inspect air switch: For Franke air switch systems, check that the countertop button moves freely and that the air hose is not kinked. Replace the Franke air switch kit if it sticks.
- Check control relay: On electronic models, a welded relay on the PCB can keep the motor energized. If the motor runs even with the control signal off, replace the Franke control PCB.
- Verify wiring: Ensure the switch is wired in series with the hot line, not bypassed or shorted.
