Possible Causes
Loose hose clamp, Cracked dishwasher inlet nipple on disposal, Damaged or brittle dishwasher drain hose, Improper hose routing causing stress
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power to the disposal and dishwasher. Place a towel or pan under the connection to catch water.
- Step 1 – Inspect hose connection: Check the clamp securing the dishwasher hose to the disposal inlet. Tighten the clamp with a screwdriver if it is loose.
- Step 2 – Check hose condition: Look for cracks, splits, or bulges near the connection. Replace the dishwasher drain hose if damaged.
- Step 3 – Inspect inlet nipple: Examine the molded inlet on the Frigidaire disposal for cracks or breaks. If the plastic/metal nipple is damaged, the disposal housing must be replaced.
- Step 4 – Re-seat hose: Remove the hose, clean the mating surfaces, and reinstall the hose fully onto the inlet before tightening the clamp.
- Step 5 – Test for leaks: Run the dishwasher on a drain cycle or run water through the sink while observing the connection. Tighten further if minor seepage remains.
- Step 6 – Replace disposal if housing is cracked: If water leaks from the body of the inlet itself, replace the disposal; the housing is not repairable.
