Possible Causes
Factory knockout plug still installed in dishwasher inlet, Dishwasher hose kinked or clogged, Improper high-loop or air gap installation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power to the disposal and dishwasher at the breaker. Shut off water supply if you will be disconnecting hoses.
- Step 1 – Inspect dishwasher hose connection: Locate the small inlet on the side of the Frigidaire disposal where the dishwasher drain hose connects. Remove the hose clamp and hose.
- Step 2 – Check for knockout plug: Shine a flashlight into the inlet. If you see a solid plastic/metal wall, the knockout plug is still in place.
- Step 3 – Remove the knockout: Insert a flat screwdriver into the inlet and tap gently with a hammer to knock the plug into the disposal chamber. Retrieve the loose plug from inside the disposal using tongs.
- Step 4 – Inspect and route hose: Ensure the dishwasher drain hose is not kinked and is routed in a high loop under the countertop or through an air gap, as required by local code.
- Step 5 – Reconnect and test: Reattach the hose with a secure clamp. Restore power and run a dishwasher drain cycle to confirm proper flow.
- Step 6 – If still not draining: Check the dishwasher’s internal filter and pump for clogs; the issue may be within the dishwasher, not the disposal.
