Garbage disposal runs but water backs up into the second bowl of a double sink.

Safety first: Turn off power to the disposal before disassembling any plumbing.

• Step 1 – Check for obvious clogs: Remove standing water and inspect both sink strainers for debris.
• Step 2 – Inspect under-sink piping: Verify that the double-bowl kit is installed per Frigidaire/kit instructions and that the disposal connects to the correct side.
• Step 3 – Clean P-trap and tee: Place a bucket under the trap, remove it, and clear any buildup. Clean the horizontal arm and tee where the two bowls join.
• Step 4 – Reassemble with proper slope: Ensure the horizontal drain arm slopes downward toward the wall drain.
• Step 5 – Test: Run water and operate the disposal. Water should no longer back up into the other bowl.
