Pressure-Related Leak at Discharge or Internal Seals
Garbage disposal runs but water leaks only when the unit is operating, not when just running water.

Possible Causes
Loose discharge elbow gasket, Cracked discharge elbow, Internal chamber crack that opens under vibration, Loose mounting screws on discharge outlet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and place a pan under the disposal before testing for leaks.
- Step 1 – Observe leak pattern: Run water without the disposal; then run the disposal with water. Note where water appears only during operation.
- Step 2 – Tighten discharge connection: Check the slip nut and gasket at the discharge elbow. Tighten or replace the gasket if worn.
- Step 3 – Inspect elbow for cracks: Remove the elbow and examine it. Replace if cracked or deformed.
- Step 4 – Check housing: If water appears from seams or the bottom only when running, the internal chamber may be cracked. In that case, replace the disposal.
