Dishwasher Knockout Plug Not Removed / Blocked Inlet
Dishwasher does not drain after connecting to GE garbage disposal

Possible Causes
Internal knockout plug still in disposal dishwasher inlet, Kinked dishwasher drain hose, Hose connected to wrong port
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power to the disposal and dishwasher.
- Step 1 – Check knockout plug: Disconnect the dishwasher drain hose from the disposal inlet. Shine a light into the inlet; if you see a solid plastic wall, the knockout plug is still in place.
- Step 2 – Remove knockout: Insert a screwdriver into the inlet and tap gently with a hammer to knock out the plug. Retrieve the loose plug from inside the disposal chamber with tongs.
- Step 3 – Inspect hose: Ensure the dishwasher hose is not kinked or pinched and is routed with a proper high loop or air gap.
- Step 4 – Reconnect and test: Reattach the hose with a secure clamp, then run a dishwasher drain cycle to confirm proper operation.
Warning: Do not leave the knockout plug loose inside the disposal; it can jam the impellers.
