Imbalance / Mounting Looseness
Garbage disposal vibrates excessively and shakes the sink or countertop

Possible Causes
Foreign object stuck on one side of impeller plate, Bent impeller, Loose mounting ring, Missing or damaged rubber mounting gasket
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power before inspecting or tightening any components.
- Step 1 – Check for foreign objects: Look inside the disposal with a flashlight and remove any large or heavy items stuck on one side of the impeller plate using tongs.
- Step 2 – Verify impeller condition: Rotate the impeller plate manually. If it wobbles significantly or an impeller lug is missing, the unit is unbalanced and should be replaced.
- Step 3 – Tighten mounting assembly: From under the sink, tighten the three mounting ring screws evenly. Ensure the disposal is fully locked into the mounting ring tabs.
- Step 4 – Inspect rubber mounting gasket: Check the rubber mounting gasket between the sink flange and disposal for cracks or misalignment. Replace the gasket if deteriorated.
Warning: Excessive vibration can loosen plumbing connections and damage the sink; address promptly.
