Possible Causes
Cracked lower housing near reset button, Failed internal seal allowing water to reach motor base, Overpressure from blocked discharge forcing water through weak point
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and do not operate the disposal while it is leaking.
- Check for discharge blockage: Inspect and clear the discharge elbow, P-trap, and downstream piping to ensure water can exit freely.
- Retest briefly: If safe, restore power and run water with a short test. If water still leaks from the reset area, the internal housing is compromised.
- Replace unit: Internal leaks at the reset button indicate failure of the sealed grind chamber. Replace the entire disposal.
