Possible Causes
Leak from sink flange or discharge running down exterior into wiring cover, Missing or damaged wiring cover gasket, Overfilling sink causing water to enter from above
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and do not use the disposal until the leak source is corrected.
- Identify leak path: Dry the exterior and run water into the sink without running the disposal. Look for drips from the sink flange or discharge elbow above the wiring cover.
- Fix primary leak: Repair sink flange or discharge leaks first (re-putty flange, replace gaskets, tighten connections).
- Dry wiring area: Remove the wiring cover, carefully dry all components, and inspect for corrosion. Replace any corroded wire nuts and rewrap connections.
- Replace cover/gasket: Ensure the wiring cover and any gasket are intact and properly installed.
