Possible Causes
Foreign object stuck on one side of grind plate, Bent impeller causing imbalance, Loose mounting ring or support, Misaligned discharge piping putting stress on unit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the switch and breaker before inspecting.
- Check for debris: Look into the chamber with a flashlight and remove any lodged items with tongs. Rotate the plate manually to ensure smooth movement.
- Verify mounting: Under the sink, confirm the Quick Lock® mounting ring is fully rotated to the locked position and that the disposal is firmly supported.
- Inspect discharge piping: Ensure the discharge elbow and trap are aligned without forcing the disposal sideways or downward.
- Test with water: Run a strong flow of cold water and operate the disposal. Mild vibration is normal; strong shaking indicates imbalance or damage.
- If vibration persists: The grind plate or impellers may be bent. Replace the disposal to correct the imbalance.
