Possible Causes

Dried or missing plumber’s putty under sink flange, Loose mounting assembly, Cracked sink flange, Improperly seated rubber gasket

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: Turn OFF power to the disposal and avoid using the sink until the leak is corrected.

  • Step 1 – Confirm leak source: Run water into the sink without operating the disposal and observe from under the sink. If water drips from the top of the unit or around the sink flange, the upper seal is leaking.
  • Step 2 – Support the disposal: Place a sturdy box or stack of wood under the Kraus disposal to support its weight when you loosen the mount.
  • Step 3 – Remove disposal from mount: Rotate the mounting ring counterclockwise to release the disposal from the sink flange. Lower it carefully onto the support.
  • Step 4 – Reseal sink flange: From above, remove the sink flange. Scrape away old plumber’s putty. Roll a new bead of plumber’s putty and apply it under the flange lip. Reinsert the flange into the sink opening and reinstall the fiber gasket, support ring, and snap ring from below.
  • Step 5 – Tighten and test: Reattach the disposal to the mounting assembly and tighten the mounting ring evenly. Wipe away excess putty squeezed out at the sink. Run water and check for leaks.
