Possible Causes
Worn impeller lugs, Loose turntable, Degraded sound insulation, Loose mounting hardware
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn OFF power before inspecting under the sink or inside the chamber.
- Step 1 – Check for loose mount: Under the sink, verify that the mounting ring is tight and the unit is firmly attached to the sink flange.
- Step 2 – Inspect impellers: Remove the splash guard and inspect the impeller lugs. They should pivot but not wobble excessively. If they appear heavily worn or loose, grinding efficiency and noise will worsen.
- Step 3 – Verify insulation: Some Kraus models include sound insulation around the housing. Check that any external sound shell is intact and not missing.
- Step 4 – Evaluate age: If the disposal is older and internal wear is evident, replacement is the practical solution to restore quiet operation.
