Possible Causes
Improperly sealed sink flange, Excessive water flow causing splash-back, Shallow sink bowl, Loose mounting assembly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn OFF the disposal before inspecting the sink flange.
- Step 1 – Check sink flange seal: Inspect around the sink drain opening for water seeping out when the disposal runs. If present, the flange putty seal may be compromised.
- Step 2 – Tighten mounting ring: Under the sink, tighten the mounting ring to pull the flange more firmly against the sink.
- Step 3 – Reseal if needed: If tightening does not stop the leak, remove the disposal and reseal the sink flange with fresh plumber’s putty as described in other steps.
- Step 4 – Adjust water flow: Avoid running the faucet at maximum flow directly into the disposal opening to reduce splash-back.
