Possible Causes
Uneven food load on one side of chamber, Bent or damaged impeller lug, Loose mounting assembly, Misaligned sink flange
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn OFF the disposal before inspecting. Do not hold the unit while it is running.
- Step 1 – Run with water only: Turn on cold water and briefly run the disposal empty. If vibration is minimal when empty but severe with food, avoid overloading and feed smaller amounts.
- Step 2 – Inspect mounting ring: Under the sink, grasp the Kraus disposal and check for movement at the sink flange. Tighten the mounting ring by rotating it clockwise until snug. Ensure all three mounting tabs are fully engaged.
- Step 3 – Check for bent lugs: With power OFF, remove the splash guard and inspect the impeller lugs. If one is bent or missing, the turntable will be unbalanced.
- Step 4 – Verify sink flange stability: Check that the stainless-steel sink flange is firmly sealed to the sink with plumber’s putty and that the support ring and snap ring are properly seated.
- Step 5 – Replace if unbalanced: If vibration persists and the grinding plate is visibly damaged or unbalanced, replace the disposal to prevent damage to the sink and plumbing.
