Water leaks from the side of the disposal where the discharge pipe connects, especially when the sink is full.

Safety first: Turn off power and do not run the disposal while the leak is present.

• Dry and inspect: Wipe the area dry and run water to confirm the exact leak point.
• Reseat the elbow: Loosen the compression nut, remove the McAlpine elbow, inspect and clean the mating surfaces.
• Replace gasket: Fit a new rubber gasket or seal ring if the old one is flattened or cracked.
• Align and tighten: Refit the elbow without forcing it, then hand-tighten the nut and snug with pliers. Retest for leaks.
