Possible Causes
Dried or cracked McAlpine sink flange gasket, Insufficient plumber's putty, Loose mounting ring screws, Distorted sink flange from overtightening
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate power and support the disposal before loosening the mounting assembly.
- Confirm leak: Fill the sink with water and look under the sink for drips around the top of the disposal.
- Remove disposal: Rotate the mounting ring to release the McAlpine unit and set it aside.
- Renew seal: Remove the old gasket and putty. Fit a new McAlpine sink flange gasket and apply fresh plumber's putty under the flange if specified.
- Reassemble: Tighten the mounting screws evenly to compress the gasket, then refit the disposal and test.
