Moen garbage disposal emits foul odors even after running with water

Safety first: Turn off the disposal at the switch. Do not put your hands into the disposal.

• Clean splash guard:
  • Remove the Moen splash guard/baffle if it is removable.
  • Scrub both sides with hot soapy water and a brush.
• Clean grind chamber:
  • With power off, use a long-handled nylon brush and dish soap to scrub the inside of the grind chamber and grind ring.
• Deodorize:
  • Pour 1/2 cup of baking soda into the disposal, followed by 1 cup of white vinegar. Let it foam for 5–10 minutes.
  • Rinse with hot water while briefly running the disposal.
• Maintain regularly:
  • Periodically grind small ice cubes and citrus peels to help clean and freshen the chamber.
