Possible Causes
Loose dishwasher hose clamp, Cracked dishwasher inlet nipple on Moen disposal, Deteriorated rubber dishwasher inlet gasket, Improperly knocked-out dishwasher plug leaving rough edge
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the disposal or turn off the breaker. Do not run the dishwasher until the leak is corrected.
- Inspect the connection:
- Locate the dishwasher inlet port on the side of the disposal.
- Check the hose clamp for tightness and proper positioning over the nipple.
- Reseat the hose:
- Loosen the clamp and pull the hose off.
- Inspect the hose end for cracks or splits; trim back 1/2" if damaged.
- Slide the hose fully onto the inlet nipple and retighten the clamp securely.
- Check for casting damage:
- If the plastic or metal nipple on the Moen disposal is cracked or broken, it cannot be reliably sealed.
- In that case, replace the disposal unit.
- Test for leaks:
- Run the dishwasher or pour water into the dishwasher drain hose while observing the connection.
