Moen garbage disposal leaks from the side where the dishwasher hose connects

Safety first: Unplug the disposal or turn off the breaker. Do not run the dishwasher until the leak is corrected.

• Inspect the connection:
  • Locate the dishwasher inlet port on the side of the disposal.
  • Check the hose clamp for tightness and proper positioning over the nipple.
• Reseat the hose:
  • Loosen the clamp and pull the hose off.
  • Inspect the hose end for cracks or splits; trim back 1/2" if damaged.
  • Slide the hose fully onto the inlet nipple and retighten the clamp securely.
• Check for casting damage:
  • If the plastic or metal nipple on the Moen disposal is cracked or broken, it cannot be reliably sealed.
  • In that case, replace the disposal unit.
• Test for leaks:
  • Run the dishwasher or pour water into the dishwasher drain hose while observing the connection.
