Moen garbage disposal vibrates excessively and shakes the sink or countertop

Safety first: Turn off the disposal and unplug or switch off the breaker before touching the unit.

• Check for obstructions:
  • Look into the grind chamber with a flashlight.
  • Remove any debris with tongs.
  • Ensure both impellers swing freely.
• Inspect mounting assembly:
  • From under the sink, grasp the disposal and try to move it.
  • If it wobbles at the sink, tighten the mounting ring by rotating it clockwise until snug.
• Check discharge piping:
  • Ensure the P-trap and drain pipes are aligned without forcing the disposal sideways.
  • Loosen and realign slip joints if necessary.
• Test operation:
  • Restore power, run water, and test.
  • If vibration persists and one impeller is missing or jam plate is warped, replace the disposal.
