Possible Causes
Clogged P-trap below disposal, Grease buildup in drain line, Food debris lodged in discharge elbow, Improperly sloped drain piping
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power to the disposal. Place a bucket under the trap before disassembly.
- Check for standing water: If water stands in the sink, do not run the disposal until the blockage is cleared.
- Clean P-trap: Loosen the slip nuts on the P-trap and remove it. Empty contents into the bucket and clean out any debris.
- Inspect discharge elbow: Check the Project Source discharge elbow for obstructions and clean as needed.
- Flush drain line: If the trap is clear, the clog may be further in the wall. Use a drain snake to clear the line or contact a plumber.
- Reassemble and test: Reinstall the trap and fittings, run water, and test drainage with the disposal off and then on.
