Possible Causes
Deteriorated plumber's putty under sink flange, Loose mounting ring on Project Source mounting assembly, Warped or improperly seated sink flange, Corrosion around sink opening
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and support the disposal from below before loosening any mounting hardware.
- Check mounting ring: From under the sink, inspect the Project Source mounting assembly. Tighten the three mounting screws evenly to pull the sink flange tight against the sink.
- Test for leak: Dry the area, fill the sink with a few inches of water, and check for seepage around the flange.
- Re-seal flange if needed: If tightening does not stop the leak, remove the disposal by twisting it off the mounting ring. Then loosen the mounting hardware and push the sink flange up and out from above.
- Apply new seal: Clean old plumber's putty or gasket from the sink and flange. Roll fresh plumber's putty and apply under the flange lip, then reinstall the flange and mounting assembly. Tighten evenly and wipe away excess putty.
- Reinstall disposal: Hang the Project Source unit back on the mounting ring and lock it in place. Test for leaks again.
