Possible Causes

Shorted motor windings in Project Source unit, Pinched or damaged power cord, Water intrusion into wiring compartment, Incorrectly shared circuit with other high-load appliances

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Leave the breaker OFF until the fault is identified. Do not repeatedly reset a tripping breaker.

  • Inspect cord and wiring: Check the disposal power cord (if corded) for cuts or crushed sections. Inspect the wiring compartment cover on the disposal for signs of water or corrosion.
  • Check for leaks: Look for water leaks above the disposal that may be dripping into the wiring area.
  • Isolate the load: Unplug the disposal (or disconnect its wires) and reset the breaker. If the breaker holds with the disposal disconnected, the disposal motor is likely shorted.

Shorted motors and water-damaged wiring inside the Project Source disposal are not repairable. Replace the disposal and correct any leak sources before restoring power.
