Garbage disposal vibrates excessively and shakes the sink or countertop

Safety first: Disconnect power before touching the unit or mounting hardware.

• Check for debris: Inspect the grinding chamber and remove any lodged items that could unbalance the turntable.
• Verify mounting ring: Under the sink, ensure the disposal is fully rotated into the mounting ring and locked. Tighten the three mounting screws evenly.
• Support drain piping: Make sure the discharge pipe and trap are properly supported and not pulling the disposal sideways.
• Test with water: Restore power, run water, and operate the disposal. Mild vibration is normal; strong shaking after these steps suggests a bent turntable or internal damage.

If vibration remains severe, replacement of the disposal is recommended to prevent damage to the sink and plumbing.
