Possible Causes
Over-sensitive internal overload protector, Overheating due to partial jam, Failing motor drawing excess current, Undersized circuit or low voltage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before clearing jams or inspecting wiring.
- Clear chamber thoroughly: Ensure the grinding chamber is completely free of obstructions and the rotor spins freely with a hex wrench.
- Run with light load: After resetting, run the Project Source disposal with only water and a small amount of soft food to see if it trips again.
- Check circuit: Verify the disposal is on a properly sized circuit (typically 15–20A) and that no other heavy loads are on the same breaker.
If the overload trips repeatedly under light use, the internal protector or motor is failing. Replace the disposal to restore reliable operation.
