Possible Causes
Loose mounting ring, missing or worn anti-vibration mount, uneven impeller plate due to damage, foreign object stuck on one side of shredder ring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before inspecting under the sink.
- Check mounting assembly: Grasp the Rangemaster disposal and try to move it up and down. There should be minimal movement. Tighten the mounting ring lugs evenly until the unit is firmly seated.
- Inspect anti-vibration components: Ensure the rubber mounting gasket between the sink flange and mounting ring is present and not split. Replace if hardened or damaged.
- Clear chamber imbalance: Look inside the chamber for a chunk of bone or debris stuck on one side. Remove with pliers and flush with water.
- Test operation: Run the unit with water. If vibration persists and the impeller plate appears bent or one lug is missing, the grinding assembly is out of balance and should be replaced to prevent damage to plumbing and worktops.
