Possible Causes

Split or disconnected air tube, faulty air switch button, failed air-operated electrical switch module, blocked air port on Rangemaster sink flange

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before working on the air switch module.

  • Check air tube: Inspect the clear or opaque rubber tube between the countertop button and the air switch module. Ensure it is firmly connected at both ends and not kinked or split.
  • Test the button: Press the button and listen near the module for a faint click. No click suggests the pneumatic signal is not reaching the switch.
  • Clear air port: Remove the button and ensure the air port is not blocked by debris or sealant. Clean gently.
  • Bypass test (qualified persons only): With power off, temporarily bypass the air switch by wiring the disposal to a standard switched outlet to confirm the disposal itself works.
  • Replace faulty module: If the disposal runs when bypassed, replace the Rangemaster-compatible air switch kit (button, tube, and module) and re-test.
