Possible Causes
Welded contacts in air switch module, stuck relay on Rangemaster control PCB, incorrectly wired permanent live feed, faulty wall switch stuck closed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Immediately switch off power at the breaker or unplug the unit. Do not leave a continuously running disposal powered.
- Check wall switch: If a wall switch controls the unit, replace it if it feels loose or does not click properly.
- Inspect air switch module: For air-switch models, disconnect the air switch module from the mains. If the disposal stops, the module contacts are likely welded closed and the module should be replaced.
- Verify wiring: With power off, confirm that the disposal is wired through a switched live, not directly to permanent live. Correct any miswiring according to Rangemaster wiring diagrams.
- Control PCB fault: On models with electronic control, a stuck relay may require replacement of the control module or the entire unit.
