Possible Causes
Failing start relay on control PCB, defective start capacitor, low supply voltage, internal motor fault causing repeated start attempts
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before opening any covers.
- Check for jams: Confirm the impeller plate rotates freely with the hex key. If jammed, clear as per standard procedure.
- Inspect capacitor: On models with an external capacitor, replace it with a Rangemaster-approved part if there are signs of bulging or leakage.
- Listen to control module: If the clicking comes from a small control box on the unit, the relay may be chattering due to low voltage or internal failure. Have an electrician verify supply voltage.
- Replace control/motor: If voltage is correct and a new capacitor does not resolve the issue, the control PCB or motor is likely faulty. Replacement of the disposal is recommended.
