Possible Causes

Broken or missing impeller lug, Bent grinding plate, Heavy buildup of hardened food on one side of plate, Loose mounting hardware causing wobble

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the breaker and ensure the unit cannot start while you inspect it.

  • Inspect impellers: Shine a flashlight into the chamber and look for missing or broken impeller lugs on the grinding plate.
  • Clean buildup: Use ice cubes and a small amount of rock salt, then briefly run the disposal (with power restored) to help remove hardened deposits. Turn power off again to re-inspect.
  • Check mounting system: From below, verify that the Reginox mounting ring and support flange are tight and that the unit is not hanging at an angle.
  • Evaluate noise level: If vibration remains severe and one impeller lug is clearly damaged or missing, the grinding plate assembly is unbalanced and should be replaced.
  • Replace assembly or unit: On many Reginox models, the grinding plate is not sold separately; replacing the entire disposal may be more practical.
