Possible Causes
Food residue trapped under splash guard, Grease buildup on shredder ring, Sludge in discharge pipe or P-trap, Infrequent flushing with water
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the disposal at the switch.
- Clean splash guard: Remove the Reginox rubber splash guard (if removable) and scrub both sides with hot soapy water and a brush. Rinse thoroughly and reinstall.
- Deodorize chamber: Pour 1/2 cup of baking soda into the disposal, followed by 1 cup of white vinegar. Allow it to foam for 5–10 minutes, then flush with hot water.
- Grind cleaning agents: Run a handful of ice cubes and a few lemon or orange peels through the disposal with cold water to help scrub and freshen the chamber.
- Clean drain trap: If odors persist, remove and clean the P-trap and discharge piping to eliminate sludge.
