Garbage disposal hums loudly but does not spin; after a few seconds it may shut off.

Safety first: Turn off the wall switch and breaker. Never put your hand into the disposal.

• Use the service wrench: Insert the Reginox hex wrench into the bottom shaft socket and work it back and forth until rotation becomes smooth.
• Remove foreign objects: From the sink opening, use pliers or tongs to remove any visible obstructions such as bones, utensils, or fibrous clumps.
• Reset overload: Press the reset button on the bottom if it has tripped.
• Test operation: Restore power, run cold water, and briefly switch the unit on. If humming persists, the motor may be damaged and the disposal should be replaced.
