Possible Causes
Worn central hub, Broken or loose impeller arms, Excessive bearing play, Impact damage from hard objects
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate power at the breaker. Do not operate a disposal with a visibly wobbling plate.
- Step 1 – Visual check: Shine a light into the chamber and gently move the plate with a wooden utensil. Excessive wobble indicates internal wear.
- Step 2 – Listen for internal clunking: Slightly rock the unit by hand from below; internal clunks suggest loose components.
- Step 3 – Do not attempt internal disassembly: Grinding assemblies are factory-balanced and not user-serviceable.
- Step 4 – Replace unit: A loose plate can break apart during use. Replace the complete Teka disposal.
